IHU RespirERA at the Kick-Off AGEMED: respiratory health, ageing and personalised medicine

Professor Paul Hofman presents the work of IHU RespirERA at the Kick-Off AGEMED: senescence, biological age and personalised medicine at the service of respiratory disease prevention and treatment.

Professor Paul Hofman, director of IHU RespirERA, will speak on 25 June 2025 at the Kick-Off AGEMED, an Inserm event dedicated to ageing and its medical applications. On this occasion, he will present the institute’s projects, which aim to deepen understanding of cellular ageing mechanisms and their impact on respiratory diseases.

The research led by IHU RespirERA focuses in particular on targeting senescent cells, with the goal of acting on these processes to limit or even reverse the effects of senescence on respiratory conditions. Ageing remains the leading risk factor for many chronic diseases and cancers, making it a major public health challenge.

By placing these themes at the heart of its projects, IHU RespirERA aims to contribute to defining biological age in order to further advance personalised medicine for the benefit of each patient.
