On July 4, 2025, Professor Paul Hofman, Director of the IHU RespirERA, took part in the 7th Dutch Cell Free DNA Dayheld in Utrecht (Netherlands), a key scientific event organized by the Dutch Society for Molecular Biology.
Prof. Hofman shared an overview of the hopes, promises and current limitations of liquid biopsy in thoracic oncology, the central theme of his talk entitled “Hope, Hype and Reality of Liquid Biopsy in Thoracic Oncology”.
This major gathering, which brought together over 200 international liquid biopsy experts, confirmed the strategic role of this innovative technique in the diagnosis and monitoring of lung cancer, while also highlighting the scientific barriers that remain before widespread clinical implementation.
Prof. Hofman’s lecture, given on behalf of the IHU RespirERA, illustrates the institute’s commitment to advancing precision medicine and ensuring that cutting-edge diagnostic innovations are accessible to all patients, regardless of where they are treated.
