Successful Completion of the EMMP Fundamental Modules in Nice

From December 8 to December 11, 2025, Nice hosted the successful completion of the Fundamental Modules 1, 2 and 3 of the European Master in Molecular Pathology (EMMP), directed by Prof. Marius Ilié, and managed by Sandra Chlebowski and Vivien Lake.

The modules were organised in collaboration with IdEx Université Côte d’Azur and IHU RespirERA, together with Sandrine Marchetti (Inserm), Laure-Emmanuelle Zaragosi (CNRS), Bernard Mari (CNRS), Patrick Brest (Inserm) and Diana Ionescu (BC Cancer, Vancouver).

These modules, dedicated respectively to DNA, RNA and Proteins, form the scientific backbone of the EMMP curriculum. They provided students with a solid and integrated understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying human disease, with a strong focus on applications in molecular pathology and precision oncology.

Over four intensive days, participants engaged in high-level lectures, interactive discussions, and case-based learning, covering key topics such as DNA structure and alterations, RNA transcription and splicing in cancer, and protein function, dysregulation, and biomarker development. The teaching approach combined fundamental knowledge with clinical relevance, reflecting the EMMP’s mission to bridge basic science and diagnostic practice.

Beyond the academic programme, the modules also fostered strong interactions between students and faculty, creating a dynamic and collaborative learning environment. The setting in Nice offered an ideal backdrop for scientific exchange and informal discussions, further strengthening the sense of community within the EMMP.

The successful completion of these fundamental modules marks an important milestone in the EMMP academic year and highlights the commitment of IHU RespirERA to excellence in education, research, and innovation in molecular pathology.
