On May 8 and 9, 2026, the 14th annual meeting of IQN Path (International Quality Network for Pathology) was held in Naples, bringing together European and international experts in molecular pathology, including Prs Nicola Normanno and Etienne Rouleau.
This summit provided an opportunity to assess the progress of quality testing in oncology and the establishment of external quality assessment (EQA) programs.
A leading role for the MET-IQNPATH project
Represented by its Director, Pr Paul Hofman, the RespirERA Institute played a central role during these discussions. The Institute is indeed the French center responsible for the MET-IQNPATH project, a major initiative for the standardization of diagnostics in thoracic oncology.
Pr Hofman presented the results of implementing quality controls for c-MET immunohistochemistry. This large-scale project relies on the deployment of rigorous testing across 20 strategic laboratories distributed throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, and Asia.
Securing diagnostics on a global scale
The objective of these quality controls is to ensure that patients, regardless of their country, benefit from identical diagnostic accuracy for the identification of the c-MET alteration.
RespirERA Institute actively participates in these international programs to ensure that biological innovations are always accompanied by absolute technical reliability prior to their implementation in routine clinical practice.
