Pulmonary Fibrosis Day in Nice: Join Us on 16 October 2026

10/16/2026

Understanding the disease, speaking with healthcare professionals and sharing experiences can help patients and their relatives deal with the challenges of everyday life. On 16 October 2026, Pulmonary Fibrosis Day will bring together everyone affected by these respiratory diseases for a day of information and discussion in Nice.

Pulmonary fibrosis refers to a group of diseases that cause progressive scarring of the lung tissue. This can make breathing increasingly difficult and have a significant impact on daily life.

The event is organised by RespirERA Institute in collaboration with the Association des Fibroses Pulmonaires France (AFPF) and Nice University Hospital, with support from Boehringer Ingelheim. It will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Le Galet auditorium at Pasteur 2 Hospital in Nice.

A morning to learn and understand

Following the welcome session, the morning programme will explore several aspects of pulmonary fibrosis.

The first presentations will focus on current fundamental and clinical research. Another session will introduce the therapeutic patient education programme developed by Nice University Hospital to support people living with fibrosing diseases.

The discussions will then address daily life with pulmonary fibrosis and the different types of non-pharmacological support that may be considered, including physical activity, nutrition, psychological support and the role of carers. A round-table discussion will also highlight the work of patient associations and give participants an opportunity to share their perspectives.

Interactive workshops focusing on daily life

After lunch, which will be served as a buffet with support from Boehringer Ingelheim, participants will be invited to take part in several themed workshops.

Running from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., these sessions will address five practical topics:

  • physical activity, with the “Today I’m getting moving!” workshop
  • common misconceptions about food and nutrition
  • dealing with the progression of the disease
  • supporting a loved one in daily life
  • making time for carers to rest and recharge

These workshops are designed to encourage dialogue between patients, families and healthcare professionals in an environment where everyone can share their experiences. The event will end with a concluding session and a discussion of future perspectives.
