Graduates of the MSc Biobanks and Complex Data Management alongside Professor Paul Hofman.

MSc Biobanks and Complex Data Management Graduation Ceremony

On Wednesday, 23 September 2026, eight students received their diplomas from the Master of Science (MSc) Biobanks and Complex Data Management, jointly offered by Université Côte d’Azur and RespirERA Institute. The ceremony marked the completion of two years of training in biobank and complex data management.

Taught in English, the programme combines theoretical teaching, projects and professional experience. It prepares students to manage biobanks (facilities that collect, preserve and provide biological samples and associated data for research).

The graduates have developed skills in quality management, ethics, bioinformatics (the use of computational tools to analyse biological data) and making effective use of biobank data.

Training to Support Advances in Research

Biobanks are an essential resource for biomedical research and the development of more personalised medicine, tailored to each patient’s characteristics. The MSc trains professionals to ensure the quality of samples and data, from collection through to their use in research projects.

The programme draws on a network of academic, hospital and scientific partners, including Nice University Hospital, INRAE, FHU OncoAge, Inria, Centre Antoine-Lacassagne, Cancéropôle PACA and IPMC.

Exploring the Future of Biobanking and Pathology

During the ceremony, Professor Paul Hofman, Director of RespirERA Institute, addressed the graduates and their families. His speech focused on the future of biobanking and the changing role of pathologists (doctors who examine cells and tissues to establish a diagnosis).

He discussed the changes brought about by new technologies, precision medicine and artificial intelligence. The skills acquired during the programme will enable graduates to contribute to these developments.

Skills for a Range of Career Paths

The new graduates will be able to apply their skills in public hospitals, private laboratories, research organisations and other healthcare settings.

RespirERA Institute and Université Côte d’Azur congratulate all eight graduates and wish them every success in their future professional and scientific careers.
