Liquid Biopsy: Pr Paul Hofman speaks at the ASCO Meeting 2025 in Chicago

Professor Paul Hofman, Director of IHU RespirERA, took part in an international session held alongside theASCO Meeting 2025 (American Society of Clinical Oncology) in Chicago. The conference, organized by theInternational Cancer Patient Coalition (ICPC), focused on the theme: “Liquid Biopsy for All – Expanding Access, Equity, and Efficiency in Oncology Trials”.

The liquid biopsy is an innovative technique that detects tumor-related elements in the blood. It offers a less invasive alternative to traditional tissue biopsies and plays a key role in cancer diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment adjustment.

During his presentation, Pr Hofman emphasized the importance of decentralizing access to liquid biopsy, despite the challenges such a shift may involve. This approach would help democratize its use, broaden patient eligibility for clinical trials, and support more equitable access to precision medicine on a global scale.

As a hospital-university institute dedicated to respiratory health, IHU RespirERA is strongly committed to the development and promotion of liquid biopsy, particularly in the context of lung cancer. Pr Hofman’s intervention at ASCO reflects the institute’s ongoing mission to advance innovation in support of accessible and cutting-edge medicine for all.
