On September 26, 2025, Professor Paul Hofman, Director of the IHU RespirERA, took part in the Oncomine Scientific Meeting held in Bordeaux — an international event that brings together leading experts from around the world to discuss advances in precision medicine and genomic sequencing applied to oncology.
During this major scientific gathering, Professor Hofman presented how large gene panels using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) can be integrated into routine clinical practice to improve the management of lung cancer. This cutting-edge technology, which allows the simultaneous analysis of numerous genes involved in tumor development, paves the way for more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment strategies for each patient.
Representing the IHU RespirERA, Professor Hofman highlighted how the institute’s research teams are contributing to the integration of genomics into hospital practice—a key focus of the projects led within the IHU. These initiatives are helping advance precision medicine in thoracic oncology, directly benefiting patients affected by lung cancer.
