IHU RespirERA is proud to be a partner of the second edition of the Trans Mucus Network Symposium, a unique scientific event highlighting the diversity and complexity of mucus gels in the human body. The symposium will take place on November 27–28, 2025, in Nice (Hotel Le Saint Paul).
Contrary to popular belief, mucus is not a single, uniform substance. In fact, there are many types of mucus gels with highly diverse structures and functions depending on the organs they cover, from the respiratory tract to the digestive system, reproductive organs, and ocular surfaces. Their role also changes depending on the physiological or pathological condition of the body, making this topic relevant across numerous medical and scientific disciplines.
This year, a special focus will be placed on respiratory health, an opportunity to better understand the connection between respiratory mucus and various lung diseases, as well as to explore innovative approaches to studying these complex gels.
The symposium aims to bring together the European scientific community around French laboratories, encouraging dialogue between senior researchers and early-career scientists (PhD students and postdocs). The program is structured around educational seminars, designed to make all expertises accessible to participants regardless of their scientific background.
